Through its Committee of Education and Training, supports the academic activities of the WGO La Paz Training Center, providing lectures and scholarships.»


Bolivian-Japanese Institute of Gastroenterology (I.G.B.J. La Paz)
It is headquarters of the WGO La Paz Training Center since 2005 and it is operator of training programs.


Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
Supports to IGBJ on training programs of WGO La Paz Training Center, providing complete scholarships to young professional specialists from Latin America.


Bolivian Society of Gastroenterology (SBG)
As a member of the WGO, it is nexus with institution that governs specialty worldwide.»


SCHOLARSHIPS


A) TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS


a) Complete scholarships granted by JICA (for medical specialists of Latin America):

  • - Roundtrip airfare in economy class, from the international airport of the capital city of your country of origin to the International Airport of El Alto - La Paz.
  • - Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel where the participants will stay.
  • - Hotel accommodation (La Paz and Sucre).
  • - Registration.
  • - Digital and printed material about topics to be developed in the Course.
  • - Tickets for domestic trips in Bolivia.

Note.- The scholarship does not include airport taxes, spending on intermediate stops, travel insurance during transfers back and forth between the country of the fellow and Bolivia and other expenses on transportation and lodging that are outside of Course Program.


b) Complete scholarships granted by WGO (for Bolivian medical specialists):

  • Passage by air or by land in economy class from your city of origin to La Paz.
  • Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel where the participants will stay.
  • Hotel accommodation (La Paz and Sucre).
  • Registration.
  • Digital and printed material about topics to be developed in the Course.
  • Tickets for domestic trips in Bolivia.

Note 1.- The scholarship does not include airport taxes, spending on intermediate stops, travel insurance during transfers back and forth between the country of the fellow and Bolivia and other expenses on transportation and lodging that are outside of Course Program.

Note 2.- Trainees with scholarship who are residents of La Paz and El Alto are not covered for hotel accommodation.


c) Partial scholarships granted by Industry (for medical specialists in Latin America)

  • Hotel accommodation (La Paz and Sucre).
  • Registration.
  • Digital and printed material about topics to be developed in the Course.
  • Tickets for domestic trips in Bolivia.

Note.- Partial scholarships do not cover international fare.

 

B) APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Applicants must submit documentation to:

Documentation must include the following:

  • Basic requirements (set out in Section 2.)
  • Application Form duly completed FORM 14th COURSE (download)
  • Letter of undertaking
  • Curriculum vitae

All documents must be duly completed and signed, otherwise postulation will not be considered.
Application deadline is Friday February 16, 2018.
The Selection Committee will announce the results in a personalized way until Friday March 2, 2018.

 

C) APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

a) Full scholarships granted by JICA (for doctors in South America, Central America or the Caribbean and Mexico);

b) Full scholarships granted by WGO (for Bolivian doctors);

c) A complete partial scholarships granted by Industry (for doctors in South America, Central America or the Caribbean, Mexico and Bolivia):

  • Photocopy of identity card or passport.
  • Photocopy of certification of specialist in gastroenterology. It may be considered digestive surgeons with training and practice in endoscopy.
  • Presentation letter of a Service of Gastroenterology and/or Endoscopy of public or private university.
  • Presentation letter of Society Gastroenterology and/or Endoscopy of your origin country. Only if you are affiliated.
  • Medical certificate of good health, both physical and mental.

 

D) SELECTION CRITERIA

It is function of the Selection Committee to grant scholarships of JICA, WGO and / or Industry. Fellows will be chosen on the basis of documentation submitted and evaluated by the Committee, conformed for the organizing institutions of 14th Course.

The main criteria to consider are:

  • Timely submission of all required documentation.
  • Professional profile related to knowledge area to the theme of the 14th Course.
  • Possible applications and replication of knowledge and skills acquired in the 14th Course in the scope of work of the applicant.
  • Relationship of the applicant with care institutions, teaching and research in their respective countries.

 

E) SELECTION RESULTS

The mentioned Committee will select benefited applicants until Friday March 2, 2018. Making the respective notification. Once notified, participants must confirm the acceptance of scholarship by email until Friday March 9, 2018. Otherwise the scholarship will be reassigned without the right to claim.

Once scholarship has been accepted, participants can only be dispensed by force majeure, and have to notify the Organization with cautious time in order to relocated the vacancy, and thus, benefit other specialists.

 

F) CONSIDERATIONS FOR FELLOWS

The granted scholarship is individual. Companions are not allowed.

  • Modified date will not be accepted once issued the airfare; you must respect shipping dates appearing on sent tickets without possibility of extending your stay in Bolivia beyond the scheduled period to the Course or leave the country during the Course.
  • Inquiries and eventual visa to enter to Plurinational State of Bolivia, if necessary, will be responsibility of the participant. It is suggested to contact authorities of your country or Bolivian Consulate to confirm whether you need a visa to enter the country. Also, if applicable, will be useful confirm, once issued the air ticket by organizers, that scales do not require visa for connection countries.
  • Confirm in your country if you need a vaccine for the trip, taking special consideration in countries that you will be in transit.
  • Excess baggage costs will not be covered by any of the organizing institutions. Check with your airline the maximum weight allowed for the flight.
  • Comply with working agenda during your stay in Bolivia, 100% of attendance as well as tasks assigned before and after the Course.
  • It is your responsibility to take care of your belongings and personal items during the Course. None of the organizing institutions is responsible for theft, damage, loss or theft.
