Bolivian-Japanese Institute of Gastroenterology (I.G.B.J. La Paz)
It is headquarters of the WGO La Paz Training Center since 2005 and it is operator of training programs.


Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)
Supports to IGBJ on training programs of WGO La Paz Training Center, providing complete scholarships to young professional specialists from Latin America.


Bolivian Society of Gastroenterology (SBG)
As a member of the WGO, it is nexus with institution that governs specialty worldwide.»


SCHOLARSHIPS


The course is designed for 35 students, with 15 full scholarships granted by JICA for medical specialists in Latin America, 10 full scholarships granted by WGO for medical specialists in Bolivia and 10 partial scholarships granted by the Industry for medical specialists in Latin America:

a) JICA Full Scholarships (for specialists in Latin America):

  • • Roundtrip airfare in economy class, from the International Airport of the capital of your country of origin to the International Airport of El Alto - La Paz.
  • • Travel insurance.
  • • Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel where the participants will stay.
  • • Hotel accommodation (La Paz).
  • • Inscription.
  • • Material.
Note.- The scholarship does not include boarding fees, expenses in intermediate stops and other expenses outside the program of studies, in transfers and stay.

b) WGO full scholarships (for Bolivian medical specialists):
  • • Digital / printed material on the topics to be developed in the Course.
  • • Air or land passage, economy class from your city of origin to La Paz city.
  • • Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel where the participants will stay.
  • • Hotel accommodation (La Paz).
  • • Inscription.
  • • Material.
Note 1.- The scholarship does not include boarding fees, intermediate stops, traveler insurance during round trips between the country of the fellow and Bolivia and other expenses outside the study program in transfers and stay.

Note 2.- Scholarship students residing in La Paz city and El Alto city are not considered for hotel accommodation.

c) Partial scholarships awarded by the Industry (for specialists in Latin America):
  • • Hotel accommodation (La Paz).
  • • Inscription.
  • • Digital material.
Note.- Partial scholarships do not cover international passages.

The program is developed based on conferences and teleconferences, interactive seminars and live cases, in Spanish and English, with simultaneous translation for conferences and interactive seminars.

1. Application procedure for scholarships

The applicant must send the documentation established below to the following emails:

The documentation must include the following:
  • • Basic requirements (established in Section 2.)
  • • Application Form duly filled out FORM 15º COURSE(download).
  • • Letter of commitment.
  • • Resume.
All documents must be duly completed and signed, otherwise the application will not be considered.
The application deadline is January 4, 2019.
The Selection Committee will let know the results in a personalized manner from January 11, 2019.

2. Basic requirements for application for scholarships

a) JICA complete scholarships (for doctors from South America, Central America or the Caribbean and Mexico);
b) WGO complete scholarships (for Bolivian doctors);
c) Industry partial scholarships (for doctors from South America, Central America or the Caribbean, Mexico and Bolivia):
  • • Photocopy of identity document or passport.
  • • Photocopy of a gastroenterology specialist certification. They can be considered digestive surgeons with training and practice in digestive endoscopy.
  • • Letter of introduction of a Gastroenterology and / or Digestive Endoscopy Service at the university level, public or private.
  • • Letter of introduction of the Society of Gastroenterology and / or Digestive Endoscopy of its country of origin, only in case of being affiliated.
  • • Medical certification of good health, both physical and mental.
3. Selection criteria

It is the responsibility of the Selection Committee to award the JICA, WGO and / or industry scholarships. The fellows will be chosen on the basis of the documentation presented and evaluated by the aforementioned Committee, made up of the organizing institutions of the "15º International Course".

The main criteria to be considered are:
  • • Timely submission of all the requested documentation.
  • • Professional profile related to the area of ​​knowledge related to the theme of the "15º International Course".
  • • Possibilities of application and replication of the knowledge and skills acquired in the "15º International Course" in the field of work of the applicant.
  • • Relationship of the applicant with welfare, teaching and research institutions in their respective countries.
4. Results of the selection

The aforementioned Committee will select the beneficiary applicants from January 11, 2019 making the corresponding notification to the interested parties until Wednesday, January 16. Once notified, participants must confirm their acceptance of the scholarship by email until January 18, 2019 otherwise the scholarship will be reassigned without right to claim.

Once the scholarship has been accepted, may be withdrawn only for reasons of force majeure, notifying the Organization with a prudent time so that the vacancy can be relocated, and in that way, it can benefit the greatest number of specialists.

5. Aspects to be considered by the scholarship specialists
  • • The scholarship awarded is individual. No companions are allowed to the Course.
  • • In the case of air tickets, once issued, modifications of dates will not be accepted; the dates of boarding that appear in the passages sent must be respected, without the possibility of extending the stay in Bolivia beyond the period scheduled for the Course, nor of leaving the country during the Course.
  • • The inquiries and possible obtaining of the visa to enter the Plurinational State of Bolivia, if necessary, will be the responsibility of the fellow. It is suggested to contact the authorities of your country or the Bolivian Consulate to confirm if you need a visa to enter the country. Likewise, if applicable, it will be useful to confirm, once the air ticket has been remitted by the organizers, that the aircraft transshipment scales do not require a visa for the countries of connection.
  • • Confirm in your country, the obligatory nature of a vaccine for your trip, with special consideration to the countries in which it will be in transit.
  • • Excess baggage costs will not be covered by any of the organizing institutions. Verify with the airline of your ticket the maximum of packages and weight allowed for the flight.
  • • Comply with the work schedule during your stay in Bolivia, 100% attendance to the Course, as well as the tasks assigned before and after the Course.
  • • It is the responsibility of each participant to take care of its belongings and personal belongings during the entire stage of the course. None of the organizing institutions can be held responsible for theft, damage, loss or theft.
